Infinity Crush Announces New Album Virtual Heaven, Shares Lead Single “Misbehaving”

Infinity Crush, the indie-pop moniker of North Carolina’s Caroline White, announced a new album on Tuesday morning, previewed through the quietly stirring lead single, “Misbehaving.”

The track’s plaintively plucked acoustic guitar and White’s tender vocals are softly textured with a warm bass line and airy strings; with additional vocal harmonies layered, “Misbehaving” sounds simultaneously isolated and beleaguered, a parable of tricky relationships and romantic quandaries.

White’s vocals simmer throughout the track, peppering naturalistic touches within the emotional distresses of the song: “Oak trees and the lights and the way you lose your mind / And you’re watching me undress, and you say that I’m the best / Out of all the girls that come and waste your time,” she sings.

For the new record, Virtual Heaven, White teamed with her dear friend Jordan Bleau, who provides backing vocals on “Misbehaving.” It was her first time recording in a studio, she says, explaining in a statement that it was “the most fulfilled I’ve ever felt after making an album. It was pretty emotional for me to have the resources to really create the best thing I could make.”
