Interpol Announce U.S. Performances for 15th Anniversary of Turn on the Bright Lights

Back in January, Interpol announced a European tour celebrating the 15th anniversary of their acclaimed debut Turn on the Bright Lights. Now, after three months of waiting with bated breath, U.S. fans can breathe a sigh of relief—well, so long as those fans live around the two biggest cities in the country.

This morning, the New York City rockers announced a pair of huge open-air shows in September. They’ll play a hometown gig at Forest Hills Stadium on the 23rd before hopping over to California for a performance at the L.A. State Historic Park on the 30th. The two shows will see the band perform Turn on the Bright Lights in full, and have been confirmed as the only anniversary performances the band will be doing in North America. Both evenings will also features opening sets from indie-rock weirdos Deerhunter and experimental-instrumental rockers Battles, making these shows all the more enticing.

As previously reported, Interpol are currently at work on a new record, their sixth, which they’ve stated will arrive some time next year.

Tickets for the Forest Hills Stadium show go on presale to fan club members tomorrow, May 2, at 10 a.m. EST and on sale to the public Friday, May 5, at noon. Meanwhile, presale for the L.A. show begins at 10 a.m. PST tomorrow and general on-sale begins Friday at 10 a.m.

While you wait to pick up your tickets, turn the clock back to 2002 and revisit Turn on the Bright Lights, and then read through Paste’s original review of the record here, along with our review of its 10th anniversary reissue here.
