Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, the soul-filled act out of Denver, Colo., have just released “Coolin’ Out,” the latest single from their forthcoming album, Tearing at the Seams, set to release on March 9 via Stax Records. This rhythmic new song featuring Lucius is the third single off the album, following the release of “Hey Mama” and lead single “You Worry Me.”
Rateliff left his Colorado home to record his band’s sophomore album in Rodeo, N.M. “For the first record I demo-ed everything up and created most of the parts,” says Rateliff. “This time, I felt like we’ve all spent so much time on the road that we should all go off somewhere. We should all have that experience together.” The band teamed up with producer Richard Swift, who’s helmed records for bands like The Shins and Foxygen, as well as Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats’ self-titled debut.
Along with the release of the new single, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats have extended their 2018 tour. As fans of the band already know, this is one live act you won’t want to miss. The intensity of the band’s ‘70s-era horns and rhythm-and-blues dynamics follow Rateliff in every show, as he gyrates on stage (most of the time) with a drink in his hand and shuffles around like James Brown. The charismatic frontman for the group carries with him a palpable energy that spreads like a dance-inducing virus into every corner of a venue. Considering this act has enough vitality to make a stone sway, you’re going to want to bring some comfortable shoes.
