Portugal. The Man, St. Vincent, Grizzly Bear and More Unite for Noise For Now Benefit Shows

What do Grizzly Bear, A Hawk & A Hacksaw, Andrew Bird, St. Vincent and Portugal. The Man have in common?

A passion for “empowering women and protecting their health and abortion rights,” and doing so through performing—and donating the profits from ticket sales—in states that are the greatest battlegrounds for such issues.

The artists have paired up with Noise For Now, an organization that puts together concerts to raise funds for grassroots organizations tackling issues such as reproductive rights, human trafficking and wage equality.

So far, this year’s shows include a pairing of Grizzly Bear and A Hawk & A Hacksaw in Santa Fe, N.M., followed closely by Andrew Bird and St. Vincent performing in the same city. During the same week, Portugal. The Man will also perform at the Avondale Brewing Company in Birmingham, Ala.

These shows follow the formation of Noise For Now in 2017, when Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes, Heather Trost, Spoon, Tune-Yards, Lower Dens and TV on the Radio played two free shows at The Santa Fe Opera House, also donating the proceeds to the cause. The organization expects to put on more shows as the year progresses, diversifying both in location and genre.
