Ryan Adams Announces New Album Prisoner, Debuts First Single

Music News Ryan Adams

Ryan Adams has announced his next album via Instagram and it’s titled Prisoner.

This is Adams’ first album since the Taylor Swift cover album 1989 , and his first release of original material since 2014’s self-titled Ryan Adams.

Speaking to Japan Times earlier this week, Ryan said the album came out of his difficult divorce:

I started writing this record while I was going through a very public divorce, which is a humiliating and just a f—-ing horrible thing to go through no matter who you are. To be me and to go through that the way that I did was destructive on a level that I can’t explain. So a lot of extra work went into keeping my chin up and remembering what I did and what I loved about who I was.

That melancholy can definitely be felt on the album’s first single, “Do You Still Love Me,” which is embedded below.

Prisoner will be out on Feb. 17, 2017. Check out the cover art down below and listen to Paste Cloud audio from a 2006 Adams show beneath that.
