Steely Dan and The Doobie Brothers Announce Co-Headlining Summer Tour

Steely Dan and The Doobie Brothers have announced a co-headlining North American tour. Their 2018 summer run will kick off May 10 in Charlotte, N.C. and finish up on June 14 in Bethel, N.Y. The bands will travel through 30+ cities (including Los Angeles, Chicago and Toronto) spreading the same roots-based, guitar-driven sounds they’ve been playing since the ‘70s.

Steely Dan has sold more than 40 million albums worldwide since their debut in 1972. Their sound helped define ‘70s rock with hits like “Deacon Blues” and “Babylon Sisters.” The band has gone platinum seven times between 1972 and 1980, and they won a Grammy for Album of The Year with their album Two Against Nature. Later in 2001, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Of course, the Steely Dan of this tour will be a different animal: It’s their first major tour after Walter Becker’s death last September. Donald Fagen has sued Becker’s estate to retain control of the band. “I intend to keep the music we created together alive as long as I can with the Steely Dan band,” Fagen wrote days after Becker’s death.

The Doobie Brothers have kept rock and roll alive for over four decades. With over 48 million albums sold worldwide and four Grammy awards, The Doobie Brothers still keep delivering their groovy sound. Their latest studio album, Southbound, features new recordings of the band’s greatest hits, featuring country music stars like Zac Brown Band, Brad Paisley and Toby Keith. The band’s Best of the Doobies album (1976) has sold more than 12 million copies. With A-list collaborations, this new studio album is sure to be a hit.

Tickets for the event go on sale to the general public on Friday, Jan. 12. Citi card members will have access to U.S. pre-sale tickets beginning Wednesday, Jan. 10.
