Tame Impala debuted “Borderline” live during their performance on Saturday Night Live on March 30. They also performed their previous single “Patience,” a bouncy, disco-inflected pop tune that opens with Parker singing, “Has it been even that long? Did I count the days wrong?”

Fans have been eagerly awaiting new material from Tame Impala since their groundbreaking third album Currents came out in 2015. The album charted a new pop sound for the band, abandoning the psych guitars of their past in favor of big, sweeping synths and groovy bass lines. Based on “Patience” and the band’s live rendition of “Borderline,” Parker and company appear to be traveling even further down this road on their latest work.
