Watch The B-52’s Party at The Capitol Theatre On This Day in 1980

By November of 1980, the B-52’s had two albums under their belt and were two months away from their debut Saturday Night Live performance. The new wave band were quickly rising to national fame, and they were still touring with the original lineup which consisted of frontman Fred Schneider (who in this set’s liner notes is credited as playing both the glockenspiel and “various toys”), Cindy Wilson, Ricky Wilson, Kate Pierson and Keith Strickland.

The whole gang, about as green as you’ll ever see them, is present for this show, taped on this day (Nov. 7) in 1980 in the Capitol Theatre in Passiac, New Jersey, just a few month’s after LP2’s release. Wild Planet arrived in August of that year, a little over a year after the band’s self-titled debut. They play the majority of both albums during this concert, including “Rock Lobster,” “Private Idaho” and “Dance This Mess Around.”

Watch the full concert below, followed by the singular cut of “Give Me Back My Man.”
