The Menzingers Detail Sixth Album Hello Exile, Release First Cut

Scranton, N.J.-based punk outfit The Menzingers have unveiled details of their forthcoming sixth studio album Hello Exile, set for release Oct. 4 via Epitaph.

The follow-up to 2017’s After The Party, the band’s newest studio effort is described as the band’s most emotionally daring work to date, and a deeper dive into reflections on aging, troubled relationships and political ennui. The band welcomed back longtime producer Will Yip (the brains behind Mannequin Pussy and Petal’s recent LPs) to helm the band’s fourth project for Epitaph.

The announcement arrives with the first cut taken from the album, a vulnerable portrait of longing compounded by jangling guitars and gushy, anthemic vocals titled “Anna.” The single’s accompanying video is just as heartsick as the lyrics itself, finding a young man capturing the city of Philadelphia on camera to send to the same lover that vocalist Greg Barnett is longing for: “I have so much to tell you / Please come back to Philadelphia / This place ain’t the same without you Anna / You got a great big new promotion / But now you travel so damn much.”

The band have announced a new fall headlining tour in support of Hello Exile and will begin their month-long North American headlining tour next week. You can check out both sets of upcoming dates below the album details.

Hello Exile will arrive Oct. 4 via Epitaph, and you can preorder the album here.
