The White Stripes Sell Anti-Trump T-Shirt, “Icky Trump”

Last week, Jack and Meg White had the closest thing to a reunion a White Stripes fan could hope for when they issued a joint statement, saying:

Regarding the use of “Seven Nation Army” in a Donald Trump campaign video, The White Stripes would like to unequivocally state that they have nothing whatsoever to do with this video. They are disgusted by this association, and by the illegal use of their song.

And though it turned out that Trump never used the song in an official campaign video (it has been used in several popular videos made by Trump supporters), that hasn’t stopped The Stripes from continuing their criticism of Trump.

An anti-Trump T-shirt has been added to the online store of Third Man Records, Jack White’s record label. On the front of the red shirt is the phrase “Icky Trump” (a play on the 2007 White Stripes song “Icky Thump”) and on the back are lyrics from the song, which read:

White Americans? What?
Nothing better to do?
Why don’t you kick yourself out?
You’re an immigrant too.
Who’s using who?
What should we do?
Well, you can’t be a pimp
And a prostitute too.

The “Icky Trump/Thump” pun and incredibly appropriate lyrics work so well together, it’s hard to believe the whole thing wasn’t planned by the band from the beginning.
