Tina Turner Musical Coming to Broadway Next Fall

The producers of Tina: The Musical, the show following the life of Tina Turner from small-town Tennessee to rock stardom, announced that it will be coming to Broadway in fall 2019.

The musical premiered at the Aldwych Theatre in London’s West End this past April. It will open in Hamburg, Germany, in early 2019 as well, making Broadway the third simultaneous production of the show.

“Bringing this musical to life on stage and working with this team has meant so much to me,” said Turner in a statement. “I feel that it is in many ways a culmination of my career. London audiences have been and continue to be extraordinary. Now, the bright lights of Broadway are calling, and I’m very excited to share this beautiful show with New York audiences next year.”

The show was written by Katori Hall, directed by Phyllida Lloyd, and co-produced by Stage Entertainment and Turner. Turner, who has largely been retired from the music industry for the past decade, is set to release a second memoir, Tina Turner: My Love Story, later this year.

Details regarding casting and location have not been announced.
