The Ghostwriter of The Art of the Deal Says Trump is About to Resign

If you haven’t been watching the news much recently, you should know that Trump is having sort of a rough go of this whole “leader of the free world” thing. His approval ratings are historically low, he’s failed to repeal or replace Obamacare, he can’t shake his Russian ties and there isn’t a single Republican out there willing to defend Trump’s stance on how some Nazis are okay guys. All that to say, it’s not that big of a surprise that some people think he’s about to quit the presidency and live a quiet, angry life amidst the Twitter birds.

According to The Independent, the co-author of Trump’s The Art of the Deal book believes Trump won’t finish out the year. Tony Schwartz even predicts it could be as early as this fall.

The primary reason? Russia. Schwartz believes. “The circle is closing at blinding speed. Trump is going to resign and declare victory before Mueller and Congress leave him no choice. Trump’s presidency is effectively over. Would be amazed if he survives till the end of the year. More likely resigns by fall, if not sooner.” Basically, he is of the impression that Trump will trade information on Russia for immunity from the entire ordeal. Whether that’s a deal anybody’s willing to make is unclear, but it would be a clear path out of the White House.

All of this should be taken with a bigly grain of salt as Schwartz is a fierce critic of Trump and it’s unlikely the two have stayed up all night swapping manly stories any time recently. That said, why would Trump want to remain president? He’s not particularly good at it. Surely his life would be easier if he went back to simply appearing on reality TV shows.
