A Swiss team taking on a Ukrainian team in an international friendly isn’t exactly a recipe for the most exciting of events. However, during today’s match between Dynamo Kiev and FC Basel, Swiss attacker Breel Embolo disproved that notion, scoring two goals, one of which was an absolute beauty.
In the 79th minute, Basel midfielder Marcelo Diaz received the ball in his own half, took one touch, and then played a beautiful 60-yard pass to the speedy Embolo. The 17-year-old could have gone the normal route of attempting to settle and then getting a shot off, but instead used his instep to lob the onrushing goalkeeper. The goal pulled Basel back level with Dynamo Kiev, and the current leaders of the Swiss Super League went on to win the game 3-2.
