The U.S. Soccer federation is honoring Landon Donovan with a farewell appearance on Friday, but everyone knows you’re not properly honored until there’s a YouTube tribute video.
The above seven minutes gives a celebratory overview of Donovan’s record-breaking, nation-uniting USMNT career. There’s some great archival footage of Donovan with the U-17s, Donovan making his US debut, Bruce Arena predicting big things for little Landon, Donovan becoming world famous. And, of course, there are goals. And assists. It’s a bit … selective—the 2006 World Cup is skipped over, as is Donovan’s absence from the 2014 roster—but that’s sort of the point of a tribute video, right?
