WATCH: Kellyn Acosta’s Stupendous Free Kick In The CONCACAF Champions League

MLS teams historically tend to struggle against Liga MX competition in the CONCACAF Champions League. Because of that, you could forgive FC Dallas fans for feeling despondent after Pachuca went up 1-0 less than three minutes into their first leg tie in the semifinals. Dallas’ Maxi Urruti equalized right before halftime but things still looked uncertain for the home side.

Early in the second half, Dallas won a free kick from roughly 25 yards out. Kellyn Acosta, who earlier in the day had been named to the USMNT roster for the upcoming round of World Cup Qualifiers, stepped up to take the kick.

It was pretty.

That goal ended up being the gamewinner and Dallas will take a 2-1 aggregate lead into the away leg in Mexico on April 4th. It’s still going to be a tough fight to book a place in the Final, but if you’re a Dallas fan, you have to be feeling at least a little hopeful heading into Act II.
