On Wednesday night, Bayern Munich handed Roma a 2-0 defeat in Champions League group play. Late in the match, Roma was threatening to pull a goal back and make the final moments of the match far more dramatic. Enter Manuel Neuer.
The 28-year-old Munich goalkeeper pulled off a brilliant kick save from Roma’s Gervinho, picked himself up, got back into the proper position, and then hurled himself across the face of his goal to save a well-placed shot from Radja Nainggolan. In fact, the series of saves was so good that they seemed to indicate that Neuer has some sort of telepathic ability.
Wait a minute … German? Check. An ability to use all of his limbs with incredible ability? Check. A preternatural sense of how things are going to happen? Check. Clearly, Manuel Neuer is the physical reincarnation of Paul the Octopus.
