Instagram Adds Geostickers and Becomes Even More Like Snapchat

It seems like with each feature it introduces, Instagram becomes more like Snapchat each and every week. This time, Instagram is adding Geostickers, which has become a signature feature of Snapchat since it was introduced back in August.

The feature is being added as a part of Instagram Stories, which is already a Snapchat-like feature. Users could already put emojis and text over their Stories, but now there will be location-specific graphics over their videos. Like in Snapchat, you can edit the size, angle and placement of the stickers on your content.

If you see a location tag on someone’s Story, you can tap it to get taken to a Location page, although Stories themselves won’t appear on the page.

Geostickers will be rolled out slowly as more and more graphics are made. Right now, the feature is only available in New York City and Jakarta, but Instagram says more than a dozen more cities will be coming soon.

Based on their track record, it’ll only be a few months before Instagram brings silly AR filters to its app.
