Ultimate Ears Just Updated Its Most Affordable Bluetooth Speaker with Bigger Sound and Better Wireless Range

Tech News

One of the best portable Bluetooth speakers, Ultimate Ears’ UE Roll, just got an upgrade. The company announced the UE Roll 2 today, which, while not an overhaul, does bring a few improvements.

The new speaker retains the original’s compact size and circular shape, it looks nearly identical to the first generation, but packs a 15 percent sound boost and a greater, 100-feet wireless range. Roll’s aesthetic is, like the rest of the UE line, characterized by the oversized volume buttons and that hasn’t changed in the second iteration. Neither has the bungee cord attached on the rear of the speaker that allows users to hang it wherever they please.

It even comes with a UE floatie so you can toss it right in the pool. Consistent with the other UE speakers, the new Roll comes in a variety of vibrant colors, with the customary silly names (I have my eyes set on “Atmosphere”), that offer a style for just about everyone.

We at Paste are big fans of Ultimate Ears’ line of Bluetooth speakers, and the original Roll was no exception. It’s still a great buy, and a pretty good deal hovering between $50-70 on Amazon. If you’re devoted to having the latest and greatest, the Roll 2 is already for sale at Best Buy.
