Report: Gina Rodriguez Cast in Carmen Sandiego Animated Series for Netflix

According to a report from The Tracking Board, Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez has been cast to voice Carmen Sandiego in Netflix’s new animated series based on the classic computer game (and subsequent PBS show) Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? It’s said that the streamer has ordered 20 episodes of the series, which will maintain the educational nature of previous Carmen Sandiego properties.

What better choice is there to play Carmen than Rodriguez? After her rapid rise to fame for her turn in the most excellent Jane the Virgin, Rodriguez is an excellent comedic talent who will likely do great work as evasive master thief Carmen Sandiego. Netflix really likes those old classics, as this follows the news of the Netflix revival of The Magic School Bus, which made an equally excellent casting decision by tapping Kate McKinnon to play Ms. Frizzle.

There’s no word yet on when the Carmen Sandiego series is coming to Netflix, and for that matter, no official confirmation from the streaming service as of this writing, so stay tuned.
