Amazon Cancels Good Girls Revolt

TV News Good Girls Revolt

Good Girls Revolt has been doing well critically, and though Paste’s own TV Editor Matt Brennan found his faults with it, he deemed it interesting enough to talk about what the show has to say about the state of journalism. But apparently, the critical attention the show has been getting hasn’t been enough for Amazon.

THR is reporting that Amazon has canceled the Sony-produced series after just one season. According to THR’s unnamed sources, Amazon Studios head Roy Price didn’t like the first season, which focuses on four women working for a Time-esque magazine in the late 1960s, and didn’t think it was headed for any award glory (a major component for streaming shows, which live and die on buzz). Price reportedly passed on the show after hearing the pitch for season two.

If you’re a fan of Good Girls Revolt, don’t go into mourning just yet—Sony Pictures Television isn’t planning on letting the show go that easily. The studio is working on getting the show’s rights back from Amazon and will be shopping it around to other networks.
