King Kong Skull Island is Heading to TV

If you found yourself watching the secretly great Kong: Skull Island and not wanting to leave the picturesque-but-petrifying world of the island, soon enough, you won’t have to.

As Deadline reports, MarVista Entertainment and IM Global Television are partnering up to bring King Kong Skull Island, the first-ever live-action Kong show, to the small screen (although of course there used to be an animated show).

The show’s being written by Jonathan Penner and Stacy Title (who worked on The Bye Bye Man), and will draw inspiration from Merian C. Cooper’s original King Kong while including a female-led cast that explores the primordial landscape of Skull Island.

There’s no release date for the show yet, and no network has been announced. Godzilla vs. Kong is out in 2020, so the show might function as a companion piece to that battle of the giants. No word on whether the skullcrawlers will show up.
