Take a Peek Inside Lodge 49 in This Exclusive Teaser Trailer for AMC’s New Series

“What is it that you guys do here?”

So down-on-his-luck surfer Sean “Dud” Dudley (the terrific Wyatt Russell) asks industrial plumbing salesman Ernie (Brent Jennings) about his fraternal order, the Lynx, in this exclusive teaser trailer (see below) for AMC’s blissed-out summer series, Lodge 49. Set in Long Beach, Calif., Jim Gavin and Peter Ocko’s very funny hourlong drama follows Dud as he seeks membership in Ernie’s venerable lodge—which, by the looks of it, Dud succeeds in shaking up pretty quickly. (As Lodge 49’s cardiac arrest-prone leader tells him, “When you walked into the the lodge, they finally woke up.”) It’s an engaging introduction to one of the multiple threads running through the series, which counter-programs both the news cycle and “prestige” TV with its relaxed, optimistic, sun-kissed vibe.

No spoilers, but I will say this: It’s definitely not “all shadows and secret handshakes.” Lucky us.
