USA has released the first trailer for season two of Mr. Robot, an hourlong drama about Elliot, a socially anxious computer security engineer who becomes involved with an underground hacking group trying to take down the very security company for which he works.
The trailer brings us to three days after the group’s—named “fsociety”—last attack. Elliot has no recollection of the last three days, but the world seems to be in utter turmoil over the hack. Even President Obama gives a statement on the travesty that appears to have wrecked the economy.
“Control is an illusion,” appears in bold, one word at a time through the trailer, as lines like “revolution” and “changing the world” are thrown around. Eerily masked figures and a gun held to Elliot’s head promise an even more intense season than the first.
Rami Malek stars as Elliot Alderson and Christian Slater plays Mr. Robot, the mysterious man who recruited Elliot into fsociety’s Robin Hood-esque mission. After its first season aired last summer, the show has received high critical acclaim, earning a Golden Globe for Slater’s performance and a nomination for Malek’s. It also won Best New Series from the Writers Guild of America this year, and nearly topped our list of the best new shows of 2015.
Mr. Robot season two will premiere July 13 at 10 p.m. EST on USA. Watch the trailer above.
