New Netflix original series Julie’s Greenroom aims to introduce preschool-age kids to various aspects of art, including acting, writing, dance and music. The show was created by Julie Andrews, her daughter Emma Walton Hamilton and Judy Rothman-Rof?, with help from the The Muppets creators The Jim Henson Company.
Andrews will be joined by a cast of puppets and various special guests, including Alec Baldwin, Sara Bareilles, Joshua Bell, Tituss Burgess, Carol Burnett, Chris Colfer, Robert Fairchild, Josh Groban, David Hyde Pierce, Bill Erwin, Ellie Kemper, Idina Menzel, Tiler Peck and Stomp. Over the course of the 13-episode season, Andrews’ character Ms. Julie will introduce the kid-puppets to the various aspects of the arts and together they will create an original theatrical performance incorporating aspects such as mime, improv, circus and more.
Andrews said in a statement:
This project represents the fulfillment of a long-held dream to educate children about the wonder of the arts. I am thrilled to be partnering with my daughter and long time coauthor, Emma, to bring this show to life along with our co-creator, Judy Rothman-Rof?. We could not be more honored to be working with the extraordinary Jim Henson Company. We are equally delighted to be premiering as a Netflix original production.
Julie’s Greenroom will premiere on Netflix in early 2017. You can watch the announcement trailer below.
