Watch the Debut of the New Voice of Kermit the Frog

Matt Vogel has made his debut as Kermit the Frog, and it seems … pretty okay, to be honest.

Just the third muppeteer to perform as the beloved green frog, Vogel took over the position after the previous voice of Kermit, Steve Whitmire, was fired for “unacceptable business conduct” this past July. Disney execs (and even Brian Henson, chairman of the Jim Henson Company) found Whitmire too difficult and disrespectful to work with. Whitmire responded, contending that he was pushed out because Disney didn’t respect Jim Henson’s original creative vision.

Vogel has worked with the Muppets and Sesame Street since 1996, and already played Uncle Deadly, Sweetums, Floyd Pepper, Camilla the Chicken, Crazy Harry, Lew Zealand and Robin the Frog. Judging by this video, which you can watch above, it looks (and sounds) like he’ll do just fine as Kermit.
