This Is Us‘ Lyric Ross Made Series Regular

Lyric Ross has been promoted to a series regular for the forthcoming third season of This Is Us on NBC.

Ross joined the cast last season as a recurring guest star, playing Deja, a foster child from a broken home who is taken in by Randall (Sterling K. Brown) and Beth Pearson (Susan Kelechi Watson). She made her debut in the third episode of the second season, titled “Déjà Vu.” Ross appeared in half of the season’s 18 episodes, including an episode focused on Deja’s backstory.

The show’s season two finale, which featured a series of cliffhangers, showed Deja smashing her foster dad Randall’s car.

Ross was nominated for a 2018 Teen Choice Award in the category of Choice Breakout TV Star for her portrayal of Deja in season two. Her previous TV credits include another NBC series, Chicago Fire, and USA Network’s Sirens. Ross also stars in the forthcoming film Canal Street.

Ross is the most recent cast member to be upped to series regular for the third season.

The show also recently promoted Melanie Liburd, who plays Beth’s cousin Zoe. She will embark on a romance with Kevin Pearson (Justin Hartley).

This Is Us has been a huge hit for NBC, continuously attracting viewers and bringing in praise. Season two was also nominated for eight Emmy Awards, including best drama series. Brown and co-star Milo Ventimiglia, who plays Jack Pearson, both received nominations in the best actor in a drama series category, with Brown having won the award last year.

This Is Us returns to NBC on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 9 p.m. ET.
