I mean honestly, Coachella is just so L.A. NorCal has it’s own music event now, as the Treasure Island Music Festival returns after its successful debut last year. This year’s two-day festival will be held on Saturday, Sept. 20 and Sunday, Sept. 21 and will feature headliners Justice and The Raconteurs along with other awesome acts such as Hot Chip, The Kills, TV On the Radio, Tegan & Sara, Vampire Weekend, Okkervil River, CSS, The Dodos and many more. Organized by the creators of the Noise Pop Festival and Another Planet Entertainment, the line-up reprises the style of 2007’s festival with a day of electronic and dance oriented groups and a day of indie-rock bands.
The festival is held on Treasure Island, an artificial island in the middle of the San Francisco Bay. The island was created with fill dredged from the bay in 1936 for the Golden Gate International Exposition and is named after the novel by one-time San Francisco resident Robert Louis Stevenson.
“I could not be happier with the Treasure Island line-up this year,” Allen Scott, Vice President of Another Planet Entertainment said in a statement. “In a busy U.S. festival marketplace, our eclectic bill, unique setting and intimate size set this event apart from other festivals.”
The environmentally sustainable event includes entertainment beyond music with a Ferris wheel and a vending village with local artists and designers. The island is also a prime location for sea lion watching from the shoreline! Complimentary transportation to the island will be provided on bio-diesel buses. Tickets are $65 for single day and $115 for the weekend.
