Master of many things twisted and weird, Tim Burton, has been selected as jury president for the 2010 Cannes Film Festival. Filmmakers at this year’s festival (scheduled to take place May 12-23), will have to impress the man responsible for movies like Beetlejuice, The Nightmare Before Christmas and Edward Scissorhands. Good luck, folks!
Burton’s latest project is the highly anticipated Alice In Wonderland, which stars Johnny Depp as the fiery-haired Mad Hatter and Burton’s longtime partner Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen.
There have also been lots of rumors around the web recently that Burton will tackle another Disney adaptation next: Sleeping Beauty. Reports say that Burton will put his own spin on the classic damsel in distress tale by telling the story from the evil witch Maleficent’s point of view.
