Halle Berry and Julianne Moore Join the Cast of Kingsman: The Golden Circle

Movies News Halle Berry

Kingsman: The Secret Service was an absolute joy of a spy movie and a surprise box office hit last year. Naturally, Fox lined it up for a sequel, and yesterday, it was announced that the coming 2017 film will be named Kingsman: The Golden Circle. The sequel will take place in America and feature Gary “Eggsy” Unwin and Merlin (Taron Egerton and Mark Strong, respectively) coming to America to work with an analogous spy agency called the Statesmen. Their headquarters are located in a whiskey distillery, because nothing says American class like fine whiskey.

Halle Berry is signed on to play Ginger, one of the leaders of the Statesmen. The other is a “swaggering, sharpshooting cowboy” called Jack, because Jack and Ginger, get it? Julianne Moore, meanwhile, is set to play a villain named Poppy, and from the looks of the promotional artwork released with yesterday’s announcement, her lair is some weird combination of a 1950s diner and Angkor Wat. It appears that Kingsman: The Golden Circle will continue to flaunt any basis in reality and hopefully, like its predecessor, be better for it.

Matthew Vaughn returns as director, and offered a few thoughts on the sequel. For example, will there be another church sequence? “You try not to read what people want, but they do want another church sequence,” he said in a statement. “I have no reason for another massacre to happen. But I have other sequences you’ve never seen before.” Apparently, those will include a skiing action sequence, robotic dogs and a fight featuring what Vaughn says is “a massive f***ing frankfurter.”

So yeah, get pumped.
