Magnolia Brewing Company
1398 Haight St, San Francisco, CA 94117
Magnolia is another must-see brewery in San Francisco. There are two locations, a new one in the Dogpatch neighborhood and another in Haight-Ashbury. We went to the Haight-Ashbury location, which remains one of my faves. If you’re hungry again, then the food here is outstanding, as is the beer list. Grab yourself a Proving Ground IPA, or one of the other amazing drafts. Afterwards, take a stroll down a block to the iconic corner of Haight and Ashbury. If you’re like us, then now is also a good time to grab an ice cream cone (there’s a Ben and Jerry’s on that corner, after all). Afterwards, enjoy a short walk (perfect for eating that ice cream) to Toronado, which is also located on Haight Street.

Finish the day at Toronado, one of the most iconic beer bars in the city, and arguably the best draft list in town. Like Zeitgeist, Toronado is cash only, so come with cash or prepared to use the ATM in the back of the bar. Beers are all affordably priced, and the bar’s bottle list (ask the bartender to check it out) is out of this world. If you didn’t eat at Magnolia, then grab a slice from Mythic Pizza next door (they’re huge so you might want to get just one) or a sausage from Rosamunde. Both are allowed inside Toronado, but make sure to clean up after yourself (there’s a trash can at the end of the bar).
BONUS BERKELEY TRIP
We’d originally planned on hitting a good bit of our Day 3 itinerary on Day 2, and going to visit some Berkeley spots after 21st Amendment. For us, that was a bit too aggressive. If you’re up for it though (or plan on staying a bit longer), here are a few spots that are definitely worth a visit on the East Bay. I’d also recommend checking out our beer guide to Oakland, which offers some outstanding selections.
