Arcade Fire Make Their Return Known On “I Give You Power” Feat. Mavis Staples
Images via Theo Wargo/Getty, Arcade Fire Music News Arcade FireArcade Fire are back with what seems like it will be the first taste of their forthcoming album. The new song, “I Give You Power,” follows the danceable thread the band established on 2013’s Reflektor with a bit of the ominous organs that decorated their 2007 sophomore album Neon Bible. More importantly, though, the song features the incredible Mavis Staples sharing vocal duties with Win Butler. Her voice adds just the right touch of soul to the glitchy sound Arcade Fire establish. The song also features a line we should all be shouting for the next four years: “I give you power, I can take it away.” According to a pair of tweets from the band, all proceeds from sales of the song will benefit the ACLU.
It’s never been more important that we stick together & take care of each other.
