On Thursday, Dana Carvey dropped in on The Tonight Show to perform “The Lady I Know (Choppin’ Broccoli),” his famously melancholy ode to kitchen prep, but audiences ended up getting a bit more than that. Once the curtains parted, the comedian was revealed to backed by a full string orchestra, complete with baton-waving conductor.
It was the epic treatment of the already epic ballad we always needed but never thought to ask for. Of course, there are probably better uses of an orchestra’s time, but not many. Check it out above or watch an early rendition of “Choppin Broccoli” here.
