Drink Beer, Help Hurricane Sandy Victims

Blue Point Brewing and several other Long Island, N.Y. breweries have collaborated on a beer to raise money for victims of Hurricane Sandy. Surge Protector Sandy Relief Ale will be available in bottles and on tap in New York beginning Jan. 22.

The superstorm devastated the island and destroyed Barrier Brewing Company in Oceanside.

Representatives from eight local breweries—Barrier, Blue Point, Blind Bat Brewery, Great South Bay Brewery, Greenport Harbor Brewing Company, Long Ireland Beer Company, Port Jeff Brewing Company, Spider Bite Beer Company—gathered at Blue Point on Dec. 4 to brew the IPA with ingredients donated from the breweries.
