Monkey Shoulder is Touring the U.S. With a 2,400-Gallon Cocktail Shaker

If you happened to be in Arizona last week for Arizona Cocktail Week you might have caught sight of something a little out of the ordinary cruising the streets: a massive cocktail shaker.

Monkey Shoulder unveiled The Monkey Mixer last week, a massive cocktail shaker that can hold up to 2,400 gallons of liquid, or in this case, cocktails. The epic shaker kicked off a tour of the United States in Arizona before setting out to visit a number of select cities.

“Many consider whisky sacred and precious. Many take their cocktails very seriously. We respect that, but believe people should play with their whisky, and enjoy the experience,” shared Seb Derbomez, US Monkey Shoulder Ambassador. “Monkey Shoulder is an award-winning whisky that is made for mixing, and we are dedicated to sharing the joy and wonder of what a whisky cocktail experience can be with people across the country. The Monkey Mixer is a great vehicle to share this message in a big and unmistakable way.”

The 27-foot long, 13-foot tall shaker is powered by a 5000-watt Cummins Onan diesel commercial generator, and has its own built-in sound system. It can hold the equivalent of 123,000 bottles of Monkey Shoulder.

So, what does one serve out of a massive cocktail shaker?

“For this first event, we’ve chosen to offer the Mixed Up Monkey cocktail, a mixture of Monkey Shoulder, mint syrup, soda, and lemon juice chosen for its universality and its playfully fun use of the whisky,” remarked Derbomez. “With this cocktail you can see just how mixable Monkey Shoulder really is – a truly cheeky addition to any cocktail!”

If you’re curious, here’s how to make one of your own. Massive cocktail shaker not included.
