Thank Gerry Dunnel, founder of Pizza Today Magazine, for founding National Pizza Month back in the '80s. Studies show that Americans consume 100 acres of pizza daily--that's 350 slices per second, which is quite good for a vegetable.

Pumpkins are the stars of autumn. Technically, they get 31 days of love in October since it's National Pumpkin Month, but they also get to claim a day of their own on October 26. Pumpkins may have taken over supermarkets, but they're also interactive, so take your National Pumpkin Day celebrations to the max: visit a pumpkin patch, carve a pumpkin, scrape the innards out with a spoon and dump them into a pie.

Ah, Halloween, the day that teaches children that facing your fears comes with sugary rewards. Additionally, October 31 is National Caramel Apple Day. If you're at the right party, you can celebrate both days at once.
