Augmented-Reality Ghostbusters Game Coming in 2018

Sony Pictures and Ghost Corps have announced the development of a new AR game called Ghostbusters World, based on the beloved Ghostbusters franchise.

The two companies are collaborating with game publisher 4:33 Creative Lab to develop a game in the same vein as Pokémon Go. 4:33 CEO Sung-Jin Han commented, “We are thrilled to work with Sony Pictures and Ghost Corps to bring the iconic Ghostbusters franchise to life.” He added fans would be able to “merge our everyday world with the many ghosts from the Ghostbusters Universe.” 4:33 will be working with their partner NextAge to create the game.

The game made a small debut at Google’s booth during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, where attendees were able to test out a demo with some features and mechanics.

Ghostbusters World will feature ghosts from the franchise’s vast history along with new ghosts introduced in the game. Ivan Reitman, head of Ghost Corps, stated, “The Ghostbusters Universe is rich in characters and Ghostbusters World is the perfect medium to get to know these characters in a whole new dimension.”

The game will be available on iOS and Android devices sometime in 2018. Below are the official teaser and poster for Ghostbusters World.
