Following the firing of editor-in-chief Steve Butts on Thursday, IGN announced today that co-founder and chief content officer Peer Schneider will assume the role vacated by Butts on an interim basis.
Butts was let go after an internal investigation into alleged misconduct relating to sexual assault allegations rendered against a former editor by former employee Kallie Plagge.
Schneider will hold the position as the popular publication conducts a search for a permanent replacement for Butts, but Schneider told Polygon he’ll serve in the role for “however long it takes to get it right.”
“I’m lucky to have a team of seasoned editorial and video leaders I can rely on while I search for the best person for the job,” added Schneider.
