Injustice 2 is Getting a Tournament Series

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced that its forthcoming fighter Injustice 2 is getting its own e-sports tournament series. The Injustice 2 Championship Series will start later this month in North and Latin America, and Europe, inviting pro and amateurs for a chance to win part of a $600,000 prize pot.

In an effort to bolster the fighting game community worldwide, Warner Brothers will partner with PlayStation, GameStop, ESL, Gamelta e-Sports Professional League and Twitch. The series will feature five different programs this spring, and finalists from each will have a chance to compete in the grand finals beginning this fall.

Kicking off on May 26 is the Injustice 2 Pro Series with a four-month online and offline season. This program will whittle down the top 16 best players in the world for the Pro Series Finals in L.A. on Sept. 17.

GameStop will be hosting their own program dubbed the Injustice 2 GameStop Hometown Heroes. This one is geared towards amateurs and those not participating in the Injustice 2 Pro Series. ESL will be opening the qualifier tournaments on June 4, and eight different regional tournaments will take place around the U.S. on Aug. 12. The winners will then go head-to-head in Las Vegas at the 2017 GameStop Consumer Expo.

European players will have the chance to play in the Injustice 2 Path to Pro tournament. This PS4 ESL tournament will begin on May 20 for players in Benelux Union, France, Germany, Nordic territories, Italy, Spain and the U.K. that aren’t participating in the Pro Series. 12 finalists will hit the finals on Aug. 19.

E-sports players from Argentina, Chile, Mexico and Peru will have their chance in the Injustice 2 Liga Latina program. Gamelta e-Sports Professional League will be hosting online and offline qualifier tournament in May, and the best players from each country will face off on Aug. 12.

The last program will have details soon, and will be exclusive to Brazilian Injustice 2 players. More details on the Global Grand Finals, to taking place in October, should be released soon as well.

Injustice 2 launches on PS4, Xbox One and Android and iOS on May 16. For more information and to sign up, head on over to the Injustice 2 Championship Series website. You can also check out the series’ intro video below.
