Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Is Adding Venom, Black Widow, Winter Soldier

The roster of Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite feels a bit barebones without the inclusion of X-Men and Fantastic Four characters, but Capcom hopes to pad it a bit with three more Marvel characters. Venom, Black Widow and Winter Soldier are on their way to the crossover fighting game.

A post on the Capcom Unity blog describes each character and their abilities. Captain America character Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier, “has various ways to debilitate opponents and excels at ground combat.” With his metal arm, Winter Soldier can armor up with an ability called Metal Shield, which limits his move set but gives him devastating fighting power. Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, utilizes her many gadgets in combat—her signature gauntlets fire off various projectiles, like a sticky bomb or a nerve gas canister. Finally, Spider-Man villain Eddie Brock, aka Venom, returns from previous Marvel vs Capcom games with an “aggressive” play style, including a “web zip” ability called Venom Glide, which he can aim in six different directions.

The three characters will be included with the game’s 2017 Character Pass, which went for $29.99 and also included Black Panther, Sigma and Monster Hunter. The characters can be purchased individually for $7.99 each, starting Dec. 5. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users can partake in a free demo weekend for the game’s multiplayer on Nov. 24-27. Venom will be seen in his own movie next year, with Black Widow and Winter Soldier appearing in Avengers: Infinity War on May 4, 2018.
