Pokémon GO Grass Weekend Event Announced

Pokémon GO Grass Weekend Event Announced

Nearly a year after Pokémon GO launched, achieved stratospheric popularity and became the biggest mobile game of all time seemingly overnight, the game’s hype has since quieted to a whisper. Those of us stubbornly still slaying our smartphone batteries with Pokémon GO are clearly just addicted to nostalgia, collecting, or some combination of the two. And the next few days promise plenty of opportunities for nostalgic collection, as Niantic has announced a new event promising “an influx of Grass-type Pokémon sometime this weekend.”

Grass-types such as Bulbasaur, Chikorita and Oddish will appear in the wild more frequently starting tomorrow afternoon, May 5, but will return to their regularly scheduled appearance frequencies first thing on Monday, May 8 (at 12 a.m. PST). This event is particularly reminiscent of Pokémon GO’s Water Festival back in March, which saw a similar short-lived influx of water-types. And both events were preceded by the addition of 80 new Pokémon back in February, a shot in the arm this game badly needed. Let’s hope the Legendaries are next.
