Images via Mossmouth/YouTubeSpelunky 2, the sequel to the widely popular rogue-lite platformer that was originally released in 2008 and then remade in 2012, will debut in 2019, according to a brand new trailer.
The trailer reveals four members of the new cast, as well as the game’s online multiplayer feature, which will allow you to play with friends. Spelunky 2 will take place after the events of the original game and according to Derek Yu, the creator of Spelunky, it will be as challenging as the first game, touch on the themes of family and friendship, and have “liquid physics that are really fun to play with—combined with the destructible terrain you get things like dynamic water or lavafalls that you have to deal with on each run.”
Spelunky 2 has been confirmed to launch on PlayStation 4 and Steam. Other platforms are still being considered. It will be available for PAX West attendees to play this upcoming weekend.
