M. Night Shyamalan’s Glass Officially Begins Production

It’s been a while since we’ve been able to say this: We are excited for the next M. Night Shyamalan movie. The Visit, in a way, put the Philadelphia area-based filmmaker back on track, and Split surprised audiences by basically being a twist movie and pseudo-sequel to his old classic Unbreakable. After hyping a new movie that will complete this trilogy, Shyamalan announced on Twitter that production on Glass has commenced.

Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson will reprise their key Unbreakable roles as David Dunn and Elijah “Mr. Glass” Price, respectively. They will also be joined by co-stars Spencer Treat Clark and Charlayne Woodard, who portrayed Dunn’s son and Price’s mother, respectively. Meanwhile, from Split comes James McAvoy as Kevin “The Horde” Crumb and Anya Taylor-Joy as Casey Cooke (Shyamalan loves his alliteration names), the lone survivor of Split. Meanwhile, Sarah Paulson will play a brand-new character in Glass.

The film will have David Dunn hot on Kevin Crumb’s trail—meanwhile, Price hovers over the two with a “shadowy presence” and holds critical secrets for both of these opposing forces. Per Deadline, it was recently confirmed that Universal (distributor for Split) and Disney (distributor for Unbreakable, via Touchstone) have come to an agreement for the distribution of Glass—Universal will handle the domestic release, while Disney via Buena Vista International will bring the movie overseas.

Glass is written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan, and produced by himself and Jason Blum, who produced The Visit and Split. Glass will shatter the big screen on Jan. 18, 2019. Our review for Split can be found right here.
