James Gunn Reveals First Poster for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Movies News Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2

Doctor Strange is set to hit theaters in just a couple of weeks here, which means Marvel is ready to start building buzz for their next theatrical outing, and this one is going to be big.

Next on the docket for Marvel is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the follow-up to 2014’s biggest surprise hit. Writer-director James Gunn has just given us our first official look at the movie, posting its first official poster to his social media.

There’s not much information to glean from the poster, but it does give a good sense of what the team is going to look like. Groot is still a little, adorable baby tree after sacrificing himself at the end of the first movie, and Nebula and Yondu are now official team members, along with Rocket Raccoon, Drax, Gamora and Star-Lord. Curiously, Mantis, the brand-new character joining the team, is nowhere to be seen, though Gunn said on Twitter that this is just a teaser poster, so expect to see more of her the closer we get to the movie’s release.

There’s no word yet on when we’ll get the movie’s first trailer but there are rumors that it’ll appear in front of Doctor Strange, as if we needed any more incentive to go see a Marvel movie. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters on May 5, 2017. Find the new teaser poster below.
