Listen to David Hasselhoff Spit Fire in Ridiculous Rap for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

After the exciting announcement of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Awesome Mix Vol. 2 tracklist, we’ve been all sorts of excited about how each song will fit into the film. A lot of them weren’t hard to imagine—in fact, ELO’s “Mr. Blue Skies” is pretty perfect for the film’s whole tone. But there was one exception, in the form of an original song written by James Gunn and composer Tyler Bates. And even better, it was performed by the man himself: David Hasselhoff. Steeped in legend and shrouded in myth, the Hoff emerged from his swanky, red-and-purple-velvet-ensconced bachelor cave to spit some fire for the track “Guardians Inferno.”

And fire, it truly is. The first minute and a half is an inspired Human League-esque celebration of synth and disco, courtesy of The Sneepers. Just imagine, the Hoff gearing up for his entrance, throwing on some sexy cosmic boots and a sweet space cape. And then, cut to him running down a misty mountain in slow motion, pumping his fists before arriving at the microphone placed before a crowd of screaming extra-terrestrial beings, obvious fans of the meaty hunk, David Hasselhoff. “Hoff! Hoff! Hoff!” they chant in rhythm as he bursts into a cosmic space rap. It is, truly and unequivocally, glorious.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 comes to theaters on May 5. The Awesome Mix Vol. 2 will be released on April 28, and you can check out “Guardians Inferno” embedded below.
