Watch the Horrific Trailer for New Remake of David Cronenberg’s Rabid

We currently live in a world full of film remakes and reimaginings, and the next to get that treatment is David Cronenberg’s 1977 classic horror film Rabid.

The remake is being helmed by the Jen and Sylvia Soska (American Mary, See No Evil 2) and will star Laura Vandervoort (Jigsaw, Supergirl). The plot is similar to Cronenberg’s classic: Wannabe fashion designer Rose (Vandervoort) gets her face horribly mangled in an auto accident. After not being able to cope with the physical trauma, Rose opts to go under in an experimental surgery to restore her face, but after the treatment she starts to notice some physical changes that not only are a danger to her but also to those around her.

The trailer gives way to lots of the expositional plot, and plays into the rabies angle that Cronenberg delivered in his original. With a fair amount of blood and gore, the film is set to probably be a stomach-churner, and that’s nothing new for the Soska Sisters.

Alongside Vandervoort, the cast also includes Mackenzie Gray (Legion), Benjamin Hollingsworth (Cold Pursuit) and former WWE wrestler C.M. Punk, to name a few.

The film is set to premiere at the London horror film festival FrightFest, but currently doesn’t have a wide release date.
