All it takes is a viewing of Brown Bird’s live performance to tell there’s more than music between the duo. Dave Lamb and MorganEve Swain are the core of the group, with Lamb on lead vocals and Swain handling stand-up bass and backing vocal duties, and their notably tight, fluid performances and their new album, last year’s Salt for Salt, show what a romantic connection can do for a band.

Paste: How long have you two been together?
Dave Lamb and MorganEve Swain: Since summer 2008.

Paste: Tell us about how you two first met.
Lamb and Swain: Dave was touring solo and MorganEve was playing fiddle in an indie-rock band from Providence. The two acts met up to share a few dates and by the end MorganEve had become part of Brown Bird and Dave had moved into her house.

Paste: What’s the best part about being in the same group as your partner?
Lamb and Swain: Being together all the time.
