Watch CHVRCHES Give a Spellbinding Performance of “Miracle” on The Tonight Show

In the lead-up to the release of the band’s new album Love Is Dead, CHVRCHES performed single “Miracle” on The Tonight Show on Tuesday night.

The performance opens with the camera on frontwoman Lauren Mayberry, who is clad in a floor-length pink dress with rhinestones shimmering beneath her eyes. The fog drifting around the band’s feet and the backing blue lights give the performance an ethereal quality. Mayberry’s voice cuts through the fog crisply, and her emphatic head-banging and fist-pumping on some of the heavy beats at once make the performance feel hyper-real and otherworldly.

The live set-up transforms images from the “Miracle” music video and simplifies them into a concert-friendly arrangement. The music video is infused with blue- and gray-tinted fog for much of the time. The street fights raging throughout the video draw attention to the rhythm section when it steps in thumping louder than before. Mayberry and the rest of the band capture this energy live with ease—their investment is evident in how their bodies move with the music.

Other singles currently out from CHVRCHES’ forthcoming album include “Never Say Die,”“My Enemy” and “Get Out.” You can preorder Love Is Dead, out May 25, right here.

CHVRCHES will be on tour this summer and fall. The band has teamed up with Plus 1 for the North American leg of the tour, with $1 from each ticket benefiting Girls Rock Camp. That leg is set to finish in Boston, Mass. on Oct. 20. Check out their other tour dates here, and their Tonight Show performance below, along with audio from their Daytrotter Session.
