Last we heard from rising indie multi-instrumentalist Jay Som, she had just signed to Polyvinyl, who will reissue her debut album Turn Into on Nov. 18. Today, Jay Som (real name: Melina Duterte) released her first-ever music video for “Ghost.”
Duterte, who self-produced and played every instrument on Turn Into, specifically requested that she not appear in the “Ghost” video. Explaining the visual’s concept to Rookie Mag, Duterte said, “To me, it’s like holding onto your memories and past. They can be very vital for us, but they can hold us back. In the end, it’s about growth and acceptance.”
