Philadelphia natives Sheer Mag have shared a new song, “Suffer Me,” from their forthcoming debut record Need to Feel Your Love. The song is accompanied by an eerie music video, following an enigmatic figure in a dark cloak bearing the Sheer Mag logo on its back. The Philip Steiger-directed video also contains shots of the band performing in a smoky haze.
The song itself revolves around the Stonewall Riots, addressing the hardships that members of the LGBTQ+ community endure. Guitarist Matt Palmer has a specific memory of discovering the brutality that instigated the Stonewall Riots—he recalls receiving a copy of Fun Home by Alison Bechdel from a friend, a memoir about a young woman accepting and embracing her queerness.
