Vinyl Me, Please to Release Special Edition of TV On The Radio’s Return to Cookie Mountain

TV On The Radio’s Return to Cookie Mountain and MF Doom’s MM..FOOD are getting the Vinyl Me, Please treatment.

The record subscription service announced Thursday that Return to Cookie Mountain will be their Record of the Month, with MM..FOOD as its rap and hip-hop counterpart, meaning both records will get special releases on colorful vinyl. TV On The Radio is getting a translucent amber and grain disc; for MF Doom, an opaque green.

VMP editorial head Andrew Winistorfer sounded off on the decision-making process:

TV on the Radio’s Return to Cookie Mountain is one of the best albums of the ‘00s, and a must-own album for understanding indie rock this century. It’s the sound of a band hitting the start of their creative peak in real time. It’s been in need of a repress for a while, and getting the opportunity to reissue this with all the bells and whistles—45 RPM, half-speed remaster at Alchemy, heavyweight jacket—was a no-brainer for us.

Winistorfer elaborated on VMP’s rap and hip-hop selection for the month, as well:

We’ve been fans of MF DOOM for a really long time at Vinyl Me, Please—we featured Madvillainy as our Record of the Month back in September 2014—and after launching our Rap & Hip Hop subscription, we knew we needed to feature him again. MM..FOOD is a crazy album—the fact that DOOM made an album inspired by food is totally random and totally DOOM—and we think this is the definitive version; it comes on green and white vinyl, and with a DOOM mask stencil I can’t wait to spray paint on everything I own.
